Eligibility

The fundamental difference between the Veterans of Foreign War and other veterans organizations, and one in which we take great pride, is our eligibility qualifications.   It’s only through their service to America in a foreign country that all our membership have earned their elite status.

You are eligible to join the VFW if you meet the following three requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Honorable service with the U.S. Armed Forces
  • Overseas service in a foreign conflict, verified by:

o    Being awarded an approved campaign medal including, but not limited to:  The American Campaign Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals, Navy & Marine Corps Expeditionary Medals, the Southwest Asia Service Medal,  the Navy, Marine, Coast Guard,Combat Action Ribbon,  the Combat Infantry Badge & Combat Medical Badge, and the Kosovo Campaign Medal          OR

o    Hostile fire/imminent danger pay       OR

o    30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days service in Korea.

We have special rates for active duty military.  Additionally, for those who come in to Post 7916 and apply, discounts are available!
